Puppies have no protection against parvovirus, viruses, etc. mom dog is there also.  Bleeders, from removal of dew claws, later at home, from dew claw removal , I have had a number of them, some I have stopped, some, lucky my vet still open, and it took a lot of effort from them to stop.  My last one was really gushing, my vet was open, it took them a long time to stop, she says I was afraid puppy was going to bleed out and we would loose it.

The consensus among major veterinary organizations, such as the AMERICAN VETERINARY MEDICAL ASSOCIATION, AVMA, is to not dock a dog’s tail, particularly for COSMETIC or aesthetic reasons, as the procedure is painful and lacks proven medical benefits for most pets. A significant push from veterinary groups aim to eliminate it from breed standards, citing the tail is importance in a dogs ability to communicate and maintain balance.  Docking is primary for medical reasons, for working dogs. But is not generally recommendation for pet homes.  Dock tails the procedure is surgical. Painful, and carries risk of infection or complications.

AKC , did update breed standards, includes tails.
